Two of my favorite Echeverias

Our first photo for tonight is of Echeveria minima. As its name implies, it's small, but - wow! - what a stunner.
At first glance, this may seem similar to the previous E. minima. However, though also a small growing plant, this is Echeveria globulosa, also very nice.
Enjoy your plants!

Introducing "Latte", the newest member of our family

We have anew puppy. Joining Belgian Tervurens Osita and Kiani is Latte, just barely 10 weeks old. He's a handful, as a 10 week old should be, but he's fitting in quite well and has already been introduced to our miniature horse, Ladybug, who accepts him as one of the family.

Our home.

Spring is a wonderful time. This is the entrance to our home. The greenhouses are in the back.

Haworthia pygmaea var. argento-maculata

We had a small turnout but an enjoyable gathering of the Oregon Cactus & Succulent society at our home yesterday. For those in the area, we missed you.
The weather has been amazing for this time of the year. While the rest of the country is suffering extreme cold and, in some cases, lots of snow, we're setting records for warmth. We got toe 64F yesterday and today, and expect the same again for tomorrow. And it's dry, with no rain projected for the next week. Of course, the usual bulbs are flowering like gangbusters, so I guess Spring is on its way.
The program yesterday was on Haworthias so it's appropriate that I share a photo of Haworthia pygmaea var. argento-maculata, grown from seed collected at Cooper's Station.

A Quick Note

First, an apology for not posting recently. Other things keep getting in the way, and I don't have any new photos to post.
Second, for those who are interested and are local, I will be preaching again at Northminster United Presbyterian Church this Sunday at 10 am. Northminster is one block west of N. Greeley Ave. on N. Rosa Park Way.
Peace.

Haworthia gracilis var. tenera

Another beauty that doesn't take up a lot of space in your collection but provides rewards larger than its size.

I'm back!

Apologies for my recent absence. No excuses, just took a break. We're currently planning on having a local sale of plants sometime near the end of September. Check back. I'll be posting more things.

Spring is Here

Spring is definitely here. The native currant is blooming, along with the Magnolia, and everything is beginning to green up. And the fish in the pond are definitely loving it, especially after a colder than normal winter.

Echinocereus species

We've never had the species name on this plant. It came without a tag and we haven't ever had the time (or drive) to do the research to determine the species. We're pretty sure, but we don't put a species name on a tag until we're more than "pretty sure". In the meantime we just enjoy the flowers it produces every year.
Enjoy your plants!

Echeveria 'Tippy'

And a bonus for tonight, Echeveria 'Tippy'. We've never been able to keep enough of these in stock, but now that we've closed the nursery... Actually, the nursery is still here and I expect to have our first listing out by the end of August.

Echeveria 'Morning Light'

Appropriately, this picture was taken in the morning light...I think...or, maybe it was in the evening. No matter what, the plant is "Morning Light."

Echeveria 'Emerald Ripple'

And...another echeveria tonight, this time 'Emerald Ripple.' It's a bright little plant that does its part in cheering up its corner of the greenhouse.

Cheiridopsis cigarettifera

Like something out of a 1950s science fiction movie, these little plants have had a fascination for us from almost that far back. These are seedlings.

Pleiospilos nelii 'Royal Flush'

We don't always get to the plants at the right time to get a good flower photo. That's the case here. The flower is "past its prime." I'll tell you, if I were to look this good, even when I was in my prime, I'd be happy.

I didn't say I would have liked to look the same, though I have friends who kind of have this look!

I'll be preaching on Sunday, so I don't know if I'll get a post up tomorrow. If I don't, have a Happy Easter!

Cintia knizei

I finally had a chance to look around the plants yesterday and - lo and behold - there's a bud showing itself in several of the cintias. It was a good thing I noticed because these flowers have tendency to pop up very quickly. Last year  I missed most of them. A native of the high Andes in Bolivia, these plants can be a challenge in cultivation.

Frosty weather is finally here

Well, actually, I'm ready for Spring. But it's not to be...at least not yet. But cold though it may be, it's fairly cozy in the greenhouse. Now, if we can just get over these awful colds and bronchitis, we can take a break near the fire with a nice latte. All we have to do is find a place for our feet in the crowded aisles! :)  Do enjoy your plants!
