A Few Images from the Greenhouses
It's epi season! We have never specialized in epicacti (Epiphyllum hybrids, etc.), we always have a large number. We just can't resist them. Enjoy!

Epicactus 'Sparkling Burgundy'
This picture is a little dark. I took it in the morning before the sun got to that part of the greenhouse. Another outstanding epi flower.

Epicactus 'Fifi'
The parade of epicactus flowers continues, this time with 'Fifi'. For the next couple of weeks it's going to be hard to keep up, what with a puppy taking most of our attention just as so many flowers are appearing. But, we'll try!

Disocactus phyllanthoides "Deutsche Kaiserin"
Many years ago we had this plant and it was labeled. However, this one isn't named. If anyone out there can help us out, please jump in!

Epicactus 'Clown'
'Clown' is one of the last of our epicactus hybrids to bloom, but it's worth the wait. The first picture was taken before the sun broke through the clouds, but later we had what locally we call "sun breaks". Enjoy your plants!

Epicactus 'Fifi'
Another Epicactus was blooming today: 'Fifi', a beautiful pink
And like I said earlier, the rains have returned. We'll be back to seasonably cool and wet for the next week.

Unnamed Epicactus
We don't have a name on this epi; we used to but we lost it. It has a gorgeous, medium sized flower that is hard to describe. So, I guess that's why we have pictures. Enjoy.

Epicactus 'Padre'
The flowers are beginning to come faster than I can keep up...which is fine! Who says I want to "keep up"? This is the time of year to take your time, to savor each blossom take in the moment.

Epicactus 'Sparkling Burgundy'
And the other big Spring explosion yesterday was this great epi, 'Sparkling Burgundy'. Its dependable, huge flowers pulls us forward into Spring even if our unseasonably cold nights are trying to drag us back into Winter.

Epicactus 'Piland's Pride'
This has kind of become our first flower to be posted every year. The flower is relatively small for orchid cacti, but it's very dependable and early, two very good qualities.

Bringing on the Clowns - part 2
I just posted some pictures of Epicactus 'Clown' not long ago, but when the flowers are there, who can resist?
Created, and registered by Phyllis Fleschig of the San Diego area in 1982, this is truly one of the best hybrid Epiphylums to come along in a long time.

Epicactus 'Whirlibird'
These pictures don't quite do this flower justice. The orange of the outer petals and the purple edges of the pedals is missing. Sorry. But you get the picture. It's one impressive flower.

Epicactus 'Sparkling Burgundy'
This is 'Sparkling Burgundy', another one of the Epicactus plants which is flowering now. We're usually away on our annual trip when they're blooming but we took our trip early this year and we won't miss their flowers. And there are plenty of them. We don't specialize in these plants but we've gathered a bit of a collection - often neglected - over the years.
This evening I met with several members of the Cascade Cactus & Succulent Society over dinner and tomorrow they'll be meeting with the Oregon society for lunch. They're a wonderful group and I really enjoyed meeting them. I look forward to visiting again tomorrow.

Epicactus 'Madelyn'
Day two of Epicactus, this time it's large-flowering 'Madeline', one of our old time favorites. I understand it's a French hybrid, and it produces truly magnificent flowers. The color of the yellow will vary depending on the light but it's always very impressive.
