Portrayal of "She Who Watches" (Tsagaglalal) by Lynn-Marie Kara

Today I'm sharing one of Lynn-Marie's latest works. It's a portrayal of the petroglyph from the Columbia River Gorge known as "She Who Watches" or "Tsagaglalal", a wonderful image from ancient times. The portrayal loses a little in the digital translation, but I think she's caught the power of the image. You can read about the legend here.
The Columbia River Gorge is located to the East of Portland, an absolutely outstanding natural and recreational area. The picture below is looking East, past the Vista House; the petroglyphs are located further to the East. Washington State is on the left; Oregon on the right.

Escobaria Flowers, art by Kara

Another work by Lynn-Marie. This time it's Escobaria flowers. I assure you that flowers aren't the only things she portrays. She also portrays dogs and horses and is currently working on a portrayal of "She Who Watches", the famous petroglyph of the Columbia River gorge. She has also provided illustrations for academic works about the art of the Scythians.

Art by Lynn-Marie Kara

I'm afraid I haven't had enough time to go out to the greenhouses to take some photos, so I'll share a work of art by Lynn-Marie (my wife, partner and love for the past 41 years). I'm very proud of the work she does; and though her works aren't known by very many, they should be. This Epicactus painting is one she did a couple of years ago. Enjoy.
I'll be posting a few other of her cactus and succulent art as time goes along.

Art Exhibit: Lynn-Marie Kara

We hung some of Lynn-Marie's works on Friday. It's a small exhibit, but I think it looks quite nice.
This was taken on Saturday as the first event of the Portland Rose Festival began with festivities in St. Johns, a neighborhood in North Portland.

Art by Kara --- "Red Epi"

Time to post another art work by Lynn-Marie. This is a work titled "Red Epi" - original aren't we? - and it's a multimedia piece, with colored pencil, acrylic and collage.

Pink Epi artistic Portrayal by Lynn-Marie Kara

Tonight I'm posting another of Lynn-Marie's plant portrayals. This is a 9" x 12" painting in acrylics and colored pencil. (For the uninitiated, Lynn-Marie is my partner, spouse and lover for the past 41 years.)

Lithops dorotheae painting

It's been a long time since I've mentioned that my wife of 41 years - Lynn-Marie Kara - is an artist. This is her latest work, a portrayal of Lithops dorotheae, and - for a short time - she is offering laser prints of this and some of her other works for a special price of $35.00. I don't usually get this "commercial" in my blog, but - hey - I'm proud of her work.

Fuel Oil, Insecticide and Fine Art...

One of the worst jobs I can think of is cleaning out a messed up oil heater. That's what I spent most of today doing. The filter needed cleaning; the fuel line needed cleaning; the burner pot needed cleaning. Then...I needed cleaning!

Oh well, it's done. Now I can get on to the more pleasant activities like ... applying insecticide.

Ah, yes. Ain't retirement fun???

Enough already! Here's another work by Lynn-Marie. "Red Epi" is mixed media and collage.

Cactus Art

As some of you are aware, my wife's an artist. And being around cacti and succulents as much as we are, it's inevitable that the plants become the subject of the art on occasion. The following Escobaria image is an example.

A larger image is found here.
I'll be adding some other art works of her's in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy.
Oh, and she reminds me...prints are for sale. Contact me for information.
