Escobaria minima

Escobaria minima is an extremely hardy, small cactus which is quite hard (as low as -20C) if kept dry during the winter season. During the warmer summer, it appreciates adequate water and very good drainage. Its original location is from three colonies in Brewster County, Texas.

Escobaria Flowers, art by Kara

Another work by Lynn-Marie. This time it's Escobaria flowers. I assure you that flowers aren't the only things she portrays. She also portrays dogs and horses and is currently working on a portrayal of "She Who Watches", the famous petroglyph of the Columbia River gorge. She has also provided illustrations for academic works about the art of the Scythians.

Escobaria minima

While the mesembs are doing their thing, off in one corner of the small greenhouse this Escobaria minima has been putting on a show for a week or so. And for such a little plant, what a show!

Escobaria missouriensis var. asperispina

These are the lovely flowers of Escobaria missouriensis var. asperispina. Another plant which is quite hardy if protected from too much moisture.

Escobaria minima

This photo isn't recent, but I haven't posted it yet: Escobaria minima. I love the flower color and they're pretty hardy as well.

Cactus Art

As some of you are aware, my wife's an artist. And being around cacti and succulents as much as we are, it's inevitable that the plants become the subject of the art on occasion. The following Escobaria image is an example.

A larger image is found here.
I'll be adding some other art works of her's in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy.
Oh, and she reminds me...prints are for sale. Contact me for information.
