Our second show and sale of the Oregon Cactus and Succulent Society is coming up fast. This one will be at least twice the size of the last one, with a huge selection of plants. Plus, there will be an interesting Expo table of weird, but wonderful, succulent plants. Come and let your imagination run wild. This is the summer event where weird is not only permitted, it's encouraged! I'm talking about plants of course, but if you want to include yourself in that category, go for it!
The hours are 9-7 Friday and Saturday, and 9-4 on Sunday. Hope to see some of you there!!!

The Next Cactus Sale
I'll be posting a photo or two later tonight, but in the meantime just a note to remind those in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S....the Oregon Cactus & Succulent Society will be holding its second show and sale July 16, 17 and 18 at the Stark Street Portland Nursery. This will be a large sale than the one we just had. We expect at least 3 or 4 vendors, so there should be a great deal of selection.
The week before, July 11 at 1 p.m., I will be leading a seminar on growing outstanding succulent plants, also at the same nursery. You can sign up for the seminar at their website: http://www.portlandnursery.com/events/monthly/july_events.shtml
I just checked it out and the link doesn't seem to be working to sign up. So...just show up. We'll crowd you in!

Oregon Cactus & Succulent Society show and sale
I'm afraid I haven't been too diligent at posting lately. My apologies. It's been a bit chaotic.
A brief re-cap:
We now have a Paso Fino horse: Jardinera de Omega. She arrived from Florida about a week and a half ago and we've been spending some time out at the stables (a few miles from us) to get to know her.
Last Sunday we took a day trip up into the mountains to Sister's Oregon and further on the Three Creek Lake up next to the Sisters Wilderness. Lucky for us, the van didn't blow it's engine until the next day. Searching for a new, used van now!
And this coming weekend, July 17-19, I'll be at Portland Nursery (5050 SE Stark St. for those in the Portland area), where we will be participating in the Oregon Cactus & Succulent Society Summer Show and Sale. Hope to see some of you there.
I can't go out to the nursery and start potting up plants for the sale until I post a new photo, this one of Huernia bayerii. Enjoy.

Promises, promises!
OK. I know I said I'd be posting at least 3 times a week. It's been almost a month! But...there are excuses... I spent 10-14 hours a day for a week preparing for and staffing a cactus society sale at the Spring Home and Garden Show. Then, a couple of days later I spent a couple of days at the resort hotel known as Providence-Portland Hospital with a minor heart attack. (Minor or not, it slowed me down a bit.)
But, that's past, and things are back to normal -- which means "hectic"!
So, back to those promises. I will really, really, really try to live up to them this time. Really!
