x Gasteraloe 'Royal Highness'

No one seems to know who created this cross, but it's a classic. It's an intergeneric cross between an Aloe and a Gasteria, probably Aloe aristata and Gasteria 'Little Warty'.

Gasteria and Aloe variegates

A couple of gasterias and an aloe variegate form a border for a Fockea in the background. I'll post closeups of the variegates in the next day or so.

Gasteria armstrongii

Tonight it's another gasteria, one of my favorites for its pure symmetry of form. It's a slow grower but shows off it's strong form from an early age. I never get tired of it.

Gasteria batesiana hybrid variegate

A very heavily variegated specimen of Gasteria batesiana. I was beginning to be concerned that I would be forced to graft this because of lack of much of any green, but the new growth has eliminated any concerns. Again, like most gasterias, very easy to grow.

Gasteria 'Lime Warty'

An easy to grow gasteria hybrid which can make an impressive display. The first photo is of a younger plant.

Gasteria 'Fuji Yuki'

This is a wonderfully easy plant to grow, doing just as well on a windowsill as in a greenhouse (or, outdoors, where that's possible). According to internet sources, this is a cultivar of Gasteria obtusa and the Japanese name means "Snow of Mount Fuji".

There are many variegated Gasterias, but this one is quite distinctive.

Gasteria armstrongii

We're not really collectors of Gasterias, but because of their kinship with haworthias and aloes, we do have a few. We like them. We just don't have enough room. But they're so easy; what's not to like?

We bought this many years ago at a California nursery somewhere. We can't remember the name or the location. It's very frustrating. Are we the only ones this happens to?
