Tylecoden paniculatus (Syn.: Cotyledon paniculata)

Even in the summer when dormant, the "botterboom" or "Butter Tree" continues to provide interest due to it's wonderful flaking skin. We find it to be an excellent potted specimen and fairly easy to grow if not over-watered during dormancy.

We don't know the name of this plant. We have it; we like it; we grow it. What more can I say? If one of you knows its correct name, please...venture an opinion...

Cotyledon orbiculata var. oophylla

I took this picture back in early December. It's Cotyledon orbiculata var. oophylla and I just love those flowers. And the plant's no clunker either!

Cotyledon species

I don't know the species. We received it simply as "Cotyledon species". Whatever it is, we like the form. Perhaps a common name like "Praying Hands"?

Tylecodon schaeferanus (Syn.: Cotyledon Sinus-Alexanderi)

Another odd one. One has to be an artist to see the end result of growing this to maturity. It makes an impressive, small caudiciform plant fairly quickly.

Tylecodon buchholzianus

Like alien creatures doing an intoxicating dance (a little music here!), these plants of Tylecodon buchholzianus are fascinating plants to observe. During our summer, they're dormant and should be watered seldom if at all. During their Winter growing season, they may or may not decide to develop leaves, leaving the photosynthesis to microscopic leaflets on the stems! They do develop a nice little caudex with time and are really quite easy to grow. Give them a little shade during the heat of summer (what's that?!?). (You may also find it under the old name, Cotyledon buchholziana.)
