Another post with no photo! I promise, more are coming. In the meantime, passing another one of those milestones, I turned 74 today. It's hard to believe how much has gone under the bridge in that time and how much has changed. But I'm continuing to enjoy the ride and that's what counts! And, trying to make at least some positive difference one small experience at a time.
So today we raised a glass to the future and the wonder and love which it will bring. My best wishes to all of you for a magnificent 2014, and many more years to come.

Happy New Year!
Best wishes for a blessed and prosperous New Year for all who read this.
This is a January 1 photo of our house - eight years ago. There's no snow this year; and besides, it's still dark outside. It's 1:10 am and when you turn 72, you just can't stay up to those wee hours of the morning as easily.
And so I send my greetings from this old, gray-haired (what few hairs are left) man and from his still young and beautiful wife of 40 some years: Happy New Year!

And...enjoy your plants!

Haworthia truncata var. maughanii
I haven't had time to get out in the greenhouses with the camera. We're having another cold spell and - of course - one of the heaters is acting up - again! So, from the archives, comes this photo of one of my favorites, Haworthia truncata var. maughanii. This is from seed and it's just a fascinating plant.
Since I probably won't have time to blog tomorrow (it's New Year's Eve, the day after our grandson's birthday and the day before mine), I'll wish you all a wonderful New Year!

Happy New Year
As I mentioned, we had a little snow two nights ago so Lynn-Marie took a picture through our front window. And with this picture I send my best wishes for a blessed and peaceful new year! I don't expect we'll be doing anything special tomorrow night, so I might get a posting up. (Did the "Time's Square" thing in New York City many years ago-1962?- so don't need to do that again!)
On New Years Day, however, I'll be celebrating my 70th birthday by going out for a Chinese dinner at a nice little restaurant in downtown Portland. That's enough excitement. Besides, we can't afford to fly off to some exotic location...
Have a happy New Year!
