We anticipate this every year as the flowers are so exquisite
As you can tell we have quite a few epiphytic tropical cacti and hybrids, but we don't sell them because our greenhouse conditions aren't the best for these plants. As a result, the plants tend to get a bit scarred and don't look the best. They also tend to get "short shrift" when it comes to getting watered and cared for. But for all that mistreatment just look at the reward!

So many plants have been blooming that it's hard to keep up...or to decide which plant to feature. But this one was so overladen with flowers that I just couldn't pass it by. Like many of the Aporocactus plants, it's a bit wicked to handle, but talk about overcompensating!

Aporocactus 'Beauty'

The epiphytic cacti continue with their abundant flowers, and today it's Aporocactus 'Beauty' putting on a show.

But now it's also "crunch" time, counting down to the June show and sale. Hours and hours of potting plants will be our lot for the next couple of weeks. Remember, "Fat Plants 2012", is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17 at the Division Street location of Portland Nursery. If you're in the Portland area and like succulent plants, we expect to see you there! (The June and July events will be different, so you'll want to plan for both.)

This is a cutting in a 3 inch pot. Yes, these plants get pretty big and unwieldy, but you don't have to wait that long to get flowers! And since we don't grow Easter Lilies, this will have to do. To all of you who celebrate Easter, Happy Easter!
