This picture was taken this summer, and it's not as good a photo as I'd like. But it shows some of the beautiful character of the plant. I've got to get out and get some new photos!
Such an interesting, violet cast. I love cacti and succulents with black, violet, blue, gray, or red leaves or bodies... Just one example -- my Aloe fleurentiniorum is turning all kinds of strange colors in the Southern California sun and heat.
I have tons of Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Mammillaria, Eriosyce,... Based on your photo, I need to give genus Rebutia a closer look, and canigueralii var. pulchra in particular.
